'Widia Poornaprajna School' started in the year 1988, under the aegis of Udupi Sri Admar Mutt Education Council, Udupi Dakshina Kannada which has been running many Educational Institutions in the Country. His Holiness Sri Vibhudhesha Theertha Swamiji is the founder President. It has the Unique privilege of being guided by H.H.Sri Vishwapriya Theertha Swamiji, President of the council, Kennametal India Ltd., has provided the land, building and the equipment.
Situated at a distance of 14 kms from Bangalore City on Tumkur road (NH4), the school is housed in architect designed buildings with well ventilated and spacious class rooms, fully equipped science laboratories, computer lab, library, vast play ground for various outdoor games, vocational training centre, indoor games room, yoga hall, cookery room.
The school has introduced Smart Class concept which is using technology in class room. Each class is equipped with an interactive board, computer and an LCD Projector. Computers in all class rooms are connected to the knowledge centre. A server in the knowledge centre has teaching modules in the animation form which will be used by the teachers during teaching of General Mathematics, Social Science and General Science, English etc., .
The school which was started with Pre-Primary classes, now offers education upto and including X standard. Each class has 2 sections.
The medium of instruction is English in all classes, except in standards I to IV in which it is Kannada. The syllabus prescribed by the Karnataka State Government is followed. The school admits both girls and boys.
Various co-curricular activities including Science and Maths Exhibitions, Debating, Educational excursions, Bharatanatyam, Karate and Yoga are included in the programme of the school.
A special feature of Pre-primary is the rotating system introduced by H.H. Vibhudhesha Theertha Swamiji, by which the children with their teachers move to different class rooms -counting room, reading room, singing room etc., after each period. This breaks the monotony of sitting in the same room.
Well qualified and experienced teachers dedicated to all round development of the children, have been an asset to the school.
